Amy Levi is currently the Director of the Interdepartmental Nurse-Midwifery Education Program at the University of California San Francisco. This unique program is situated in both the Schools of Medicine and Nursing, and draws from both disciplines to provide graduate education in midwifery and women’s health to registered nurses. She is a founding member of the Center for Women’s Health and Empowerment for the University of California Global Health Institute, and is the liaison to the Global Health Clinical Scholars Program which provides an introduction to global health for students from each of the four health professional schools at UCSF. Dr. Levi is the Clinical Education Consultant for the Health Workforce Pilot Project in the State of California, a study which is evaluating the training trajectory and clinical outcomes of nurse-midwives, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants providing vacuum aspiration abortion care.

Dr. Elias is focused on clinical breast cancer research and is the director of the clinical breast oncology program. This comprehensive program includes a weekly multi-disciplinary clinic and tumor board, a hereditary clinic, benign breast complaint clinic, a screening and breast imaging program, in addition to daily breast specialty oncology clinics. The sarcoma program includes consult/new patient clinics as well as followups. Dr. Elias is the principal investigator on numerous national and local therapeutic trials and is institution PI for the SWOG grant. He is a member of the SWOG breast committee. He is also the Associate Director of the Cancer Center for clinical sciences and oversees the Clinical Investigations Core.

Dr. Stachenfeld is an Associate Fellow at the John B. Pierce Laboratory and an Associate Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at Yale University School of Medicine. My primary research focus is the impact of reproductive hormones on physiological responses to environmental challenges in women. To this end, my work has emphasized fluid regulatory and cardiovascular responses to exercise and temperature exposure.

Our current studies focus on reproductive hormone effects on blood pressure control, autonomic function and endothelial function.

The research in my laboratory is focused on understanding signaling networks within cells and how these signaling events modulate gene expression and proliferation. Extracellular signals are routed through signaling networks where they can activate multiple pathways, integrate at different levels, and form positive and negative feedback loops. The laboratory uses a combination of computational modeling and experimental biology to gain a systems understanding of the network and how it regulates gene expression and proliferation.

Yvone Paterson is Professor of Microbiology in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, USA. As a Professor of Microbiology, Paterson is an active educator and trainer and is the PI of several training grants and programs. Her research is in the field of cancer vaccines where she was the first investigator to use Listeria monocytogenes, as a vector to target tumor-associated antigens to the immune system. She has pioneered the application of this organism in vaccine development for over 20 years. Her laboratory was the first to show that this bacterium could be genetically engineered to target antigens to the MHC class I pathway for antigen processing with the induction of cytotoxic T cells, the first to show that it could provide protective immunity against viral challenge and the first to apply the technology for the immunotherapy of cancer. In partnership with Advaxis Inc., a company she founded in 2002, the Listeria based technology is now in a number of clinical trials. Overall, these trials have shown that Listeria based immunotherapeutics are safe to use in humans and result in significantly prolonged survival and, in some cases, complete and partial remissions.

Dr. Shahla Masood is a Persian-born physician, who currently holds the positions of Professor and Chair of the Department of Pathology at University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville and Chief of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Shands Jacksonville. She is also the Director of the Pathology Residency Training Program, as well as Cytopathology and Breast Pathology Fellowship Training Program. In addition, Dr. Masood is the Medical Director of Shands Jacksonville Breast Health Center. An internationally recognized expert in breast cancer diagnosis and prognosis, Dr. Masood has fostered the concept of an integrated multidisciplinary approach in breast cancer care, research, and education.

Parmjit Jat undertook his PhD at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund (now CRUK) and Imperial College London from 1978-1982. This was followed by Postdoctoral research at the MIT Centre for Cancer Research in the laboratory of Dr Philip Sharp. From 1987 to 2003 he was a Group Leader at the UCL Branch of the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research. Since 2003, he has been a Professor of Molecular Cell Biology at the UCL Institute of Neurology and a member of the MRC Prion Unit.

Jerzy Gubernator studied Biotechnology at Wroclaw University and then has completed his PhD from the same University, Faculty of Biotechnology. Now He is the Head of Department of Lipids and Liposomes at the Faculty of Biotechnology and the director of Academic Center for Biotechnology of Lipid Aggregates in Wroclaw. His main field of investigation are liposomal drug delivery systems. Hi is also specializing in bi functional active drug loading methods. He has published more than 20 papers concerning liposomes and liposomal technology.

Yutaka Tsutsumi graduated from Keio University School of Medicine, Tokyo in 1976, and completed his PhD in 1982. He is the certified pathologist, the certified cytologist and the infection control doctor. He worked for the Department of Pathology, Tokai University School of Medicine, Isehara, Japan for 21 years, and in 2001 he moved as a professor to the Department of Pathology, Fujita Health University School of Medicine, Toyoake, Japan. Dr. Tsutsumi, an oboe player, has published more than 200 English-written papers in varied journals, and released plural single-authored textbooks and web sites in the field of pathology and infectious diseases

Hiroshi Kobayashi received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from University of Tokyo in 1974. After his postdoctoral training at Colorado University Medical Center, he started to study adaptation strategies of microorganisms to acidic environments at Chiba University in 1978. His research is focused on mammalian cell functions under acidic conditions from 1996 at Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chiba University. He retired in March 2012 and is a professor emeritus at Chiba University after his retirement. He works as an associate editor of International Immunopharmacology published by Elsevier B.V. from 2014.

Federico Cattin has completed his graduation at the age of 25 in the Udine University, and post-graduate studies in the Surgical Department of the same University. He is engaged in the studies about breast cancer and has attended a scholarship in the European Institute of Oncology (IEO) in Milan, held by Prof. Umberto Veronesi. Dr. Makoto Emoto is the Professor of International University of Health and Welfare in Japan and the Director of Gynecology in Center for Preventive Medicine, Sanno Hospital, Fukuoka, Japan and the former Professor of Fukuoka University Hospital. He received his Ph.D. Degree in 1992 from Fukuoka University Medical School. He was the Research Associate in Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Pathology in Cambridge University and St. Edmonds College 2000-2002 and in Cell Biology in Harvard University Medical School 2002. He has authored more than 40 publications in leading journals, especially in Gynecologic Oncology and Ultrasound. He is the Board Certified Fellow of the Japan Society of Gynecologic Oncology, Japan Society of Clinical Oncology, and the Japan Society of Ultrasonics in Medicine.
